Adding fields to a form

Ultra Community allows you to add pre-defined or custom fields to the created forms (Login, Registration, User Profile or Forgot Password).

To add fields at any form just click on the “Add New Form Field” blue button located at the bottom of each Form Settings section:

Choosing the Form Field Type

 

 

Standard Fields Type

  • Single Line Text -this field allows you to add a standard single line text box to your forms where users can enter custom text
  • Paragraph Text -this field allows you to add a multi-line text area to your forms where users can enter custom text.
  • Checkboxes -this field allows you to add a checkbox field to your forms which will let users select multiple option from a range of options
  • Dropdown -this field allows you to add a dropdown field to your forms which will let users select a single option from a list of options
  • Divider -this field allows you to add dividers to your forms in order to separate a form into  distinct sections

User Predefined Fields Type

  • Username – this field allows you to add a standard single line text box field to your forms where user can specify just username
  • Username or Email – this field allows you to add a standard single line text box field field to your forms where user can specify just username or email address
  • Password – this field allows you to add a password field to your forms
  • Display Name – this field allows you to add a standard single line text box field to your forms where user can specify just Display Name
  • FullName – this field allows you to add a standard single line text box field to your forms where user can specify just Full Name
  • FirstName – this field allows you to add a standard single line text box field to your forms where user can specify just First Name
  • LastName – this field allows you to add a standard single line text box field to your forms where user can specify just Last Name
  • Registration Date – this field allows you to add a standard single line text box field to your forms where user can specify just Registration Date
  • Email Address – this field allows you to add a standard single line text box field to your forms where user can specify just Email Address
  • Country – this field allows you to add a dropdown field to your forms which will let users select a single option from a list of Countries
  • Language – this field allows you to add a dropdown field to your forms which will let users select a single option from a list of Languages
  • Gender -this field allows you to add a radio field to your forms which will let users select one option from a range of 2 options (male/female)
  • Biography –  this field allows you to add a multi-line text area to your forms where users can enter the biography
  • Social Networks – this field allows you to add a standard single line text box field to your forms where users can specify links to  social networks

 

Form Field Settings

 

 

  • Name – the name of the field is required and it is set just for your reference in order to easily identify it. The name of the field never appears on front end
  • Label  – this is the text used to create the caption for this field. This text will appear on front end as the label of this field
  • Placeholder – a descriptive text displayed inside the input field until the field is filled. It disappears when user starts typing in the field
  • Default Value – the default value of this field
  • Maximum Length – the maximum number of characters allowed for this field
  • Minimum Length – the minimum number of characters allowed for this field
  • Field Icon – allows you to search and set the “Font Awesome” icon associated to this field
  • Front End Visibility – allows you to select who is allowed to see this field on front end. Possible Values are: Everybody, Nobody, All Logged in Members, Just Following User Roles. Regardless what you are selecting for Front End Visibility a Community Admin will always see this field
  • Existing User Meta Key – use this option to map this field to any already defined user meta key excluding nickname, description, first_name, last_name
  • Error Message – the text to be displayed in case validation is not passed!

 

  1. Is Field Required – this specifies whether or not the field must be filled out before submitting the form
  2. Is Field Editable – this specifies whether or not the user can edit this field
  3. Is Visible on Edit Profile – this specifies whether or not the field is visible when user edits the profile. A Community Admin will always see this field
  4. Is HTML Allowed – this specifies whether or not the user is allowed to use HTML tags
